Regional settings will not change

Hi,

My father has posed me a bizarre problem that has baffled me.
He decided to reinstall XP and this was successful until he wanted to change
the default regional setting from US -English to UK -English.
When we change the regional settings to UK English then click ok, the change
does not take effect.

Steps we have taken so far to rectify the problem:
1) Virus scanned the PC
2) Reinstalled XP again
3) Checked BIOS settings
4) Tried a different keyboard (pointless, but we are getting thin on ideas)
5) Searched the Registry for erroneous keys
6) Spent hours on Technet and the KB to no avail.

I hope someone can help

Hi Damian

Go to Control Panel>Regional and Language Options. Make sure that all menus
and submenus on all three tabs are set to the same option - English (United
Kingdom)

Hi Will,

All 3 are the same, I have unselected UK Englishon them all and reselected
it again, restarted which made no difference.

Hi

If *all* top menus and the submenus are set to English (United Kingdom)
then I can't see why the settings aren't being retained. Try a 'Repair'
install of XP:

Hi,

I don't see how that can help as I we have already
reinstalled a fresh copy of XP.
Obviously this isn't a common problem, the only thing that
has changed between the old XP install and the new one is
the HDD, the install CD is legal and is part of the
Microsoft Partner Set which hasn't expired.

???Very confused???

Just the obvious that sometimes gets missed: You *did* click Apply
before OK? And were you logged on to an account with Admin status?
