Regedit help?

Received the following to hopefully fix a floppy problem.

"Try this solution for your Floppy drive problems
I actually found a solution from Microsoft. To resolve the problem I had
to use regedit to open the registry look for
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Class\
{4D36E980-E32511CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}. Delete the
UpperFilters (and LowerFilters if any) Restart PC and all
is well with my floppy drive"

There are 24 sub folders all with that same number, some of them have sub
sub folders! How do I find and delete these filters whatever they are?

no help at all

Well, on my PC there is only one
4D36E980-E32511CE-BFC1-08002BE10318 in that location. It
follows 4D36E97E-E32511CE-BFC1-08002BE10318. Those 24
subfolders that you see are all different by just a couple
of numbers and letters. I sure don't see anything there
about upper and lower filters though.

Silly me, I just looked at the end groups of numbers and assumed they were
all the same! Like you I can't find nor do I even know what these filters
are. Have posted it in to see if anyone there knows.

What kind of floppy problem?

Correction to original post, there IS only one sub folder of that number but
I still don't know where or what these filters are. The problem is that
files saved ot floppy in Win 98 or Win2K won't open in XP, get message "Disk
is unformatted, would you like to do it now". This is a known bug in XP,
something to do with 3 mode drivers not supported in XP. MS seem aware of
but are unwilling or unable to fix it! Methinks it's a way of hastening the
end of floppies!
