I had Win 98 and win Xp on my PC. I had 2 reinstall Xp and after that
whenever my system boots it gives me the option of XP 2 times when it
asks me to select which OS to run. How do I remove the extra option
from the boot record?

Is it possible that you indeed have 2 installations of Win XP on you computer
as well as Win 98? Look at "boot.ini" file. It's a read-only hidden system
file. This file will list the WIn XP installation. Be very careful editing it
because the lines are very similar to each other. Do you know how to acces
and edit this file?

Hi,

Click start/run, type msconfig and click ok. Go to the boot.ini tab, click
the button to "check all boot paths". It should offer to remove the invalid
one.
