REFRESH RATE REGRETS

someone pls help me. i was trying to adjust my refresh
rate from 60-something to the highest refresh rate ... or
70-something. eversince i attempted that my monitor won't
display anything ... it will change colour from time to
time upon restart etc ... but that's it. the os is
running in the background as i can hear all the little
sounds that come with windows xp (home). i just can't see
anything, which makes it VERY difficult to get my settings
back to what they were to begin with ... someone help me
pls. what are my options? i believe it's running @
1280x1040 or whatever ... it's a viewsonic vg800 or vx,
whatever ... it's an 18 inch w/dvi. but it's absolutely
worthless as of late due to my screwing w/the refresh rate
settings. how am i supposed to revert back to my previous
settings and correct things if i can't very well see what
it is i'm doing in the first place? PLS PLS PLS HELP ME!

try pressing F8 during XP startup and choosing VGA mode, this will take you
to low-res mode and allow you to reselect your proper res.

Go into safe mode (press F8 after POST), and then
uninstall your video card drivers. Go into regular
Windows, and reinstall them. If you try to make your
refresh rate too high and restart it'll save those refresh
rates and you won't be able to see anything.. So keep the
refresh rates something you know works.
