Windows Vista Home Premium

I can't override refresh rates in Vista for playing games (I.E.
Counter-Strike, Rainbow Six, etc). They need to be ran at a 100hertz refresh
rate inside the game, but vista is making them stick to 60hertz (unless the
game is like battlefield 2 where you pick your refresh rate within the game).

Refresh Lock doesnt work with vista
Refresh Force doesnt work with vista

Is there a fix for this?

Also, Half-Life 2: Deathmatch and CS:Source both wont launch when i click
them through steam, the error is.. NOTE: Half-Life 2 single player works..

Here's my exchange with nvidia tech support :

---------------------------------
I am not looking for per-application settings. Just a general DirectX
override would be useful. In the past there were 3rd party tools
available for nvidia cards to force refresh rates, and an appropriate
setting is available for ATI's cards. Does nvidia not support DirectX
rate overrides at all ?
---------------------------------
I'm sorry but NVIDIA does not provide user defined settings for
DirectX or OpenGL refresh rate overrides at all.

Best regards,
NVIDIA

You don't say what screen you have, this matters a lot as regards achievable
refresh rates. If you've got an LCD screen it'll probably only work at 60Hz
refresh. I've never personally seen an LCD that will run at 100Hz.

If you have a CRT monitor it should work at various refresh rates though

I have a ViewSonic P95f+ 19" flat CRT.

My monitor worked fine on Windows XP as far as refresh rates, it would hold
the desktop's refresh rate when i entered the game.

Now the only way to achieve a higher refresh rate in a game, is if the game
has an option. (ex. Battlefield 2 i run 1600x1200 @ 85hz.) Older games dont
have a in-game option so i need a program like "Refresh Force" that works
with windows vista..
