Refresh IP stack

I have a machine that recently had McAfee security center installed on it.
Since the install the POP3 function will not download any mail from the
server. This is not a configuration problem on the machine as I have reset
all profile settings to what they were prior to the installation. My
suspicion is that McAfee replaced some file in the stack as part of the
Firewall install and the uninstall doesn't remove it.

Back in the Win9x days, I could run a DUN install or simply remove and
resinstall IP altogether to fix this kind of problem. Is there a way to do
this with XP?

Turn off E-mail scanning in the McAfee security center and see if that
solves the problem. E-mail scanning is redundant if McAfee or another
antivirus program is giving real-time protection.
