Hi fellows. My system is running on WinXP SP2. Recently, was exploring some
of my network options when I discover my 'Windows Firewall' is turned OFF.
However, when I went to the 'Windows Security Center', I discovered a
firewall is turned ON, but it is named 'Proventia Desktop', which I'm
unfamiliar with & never remembered installing. Is this 'P.Desktop' a malware
insetad of a true firewall? & shld I turned on my 'original Windows Firewall'
now? Btw, how do I remove this Proventia Desktop if I didn't install it in
the 1st place?
What I'm uncomfortable with, & hope to find out frm this thread, is IF I
clearing dun remember installing it, & IF it is NOT the default Windows
Firewall, where did it come from, & how did it get into my system in the 1st
place?
Is Proventia Dekstop part of a larger suite of software? i.e. is it part of
a McAfee suite? Cos I do have McAfee VirusScan installed...
Btw, I can't find any entry in my Start Menu, nor Add/Remove Programs to
remove this foreign application also...it's really as if I never install it,
which in fact, I didn't!
Thanks in advance.
