Reformatting with recover disk

Can I use my recovery disk that has windows XP on it from my desktop computer
to reformat my lap top computer? My laptop computer has ME TOO on it and I
would like to replace it with the XP recovery disk that I have.

This is a Vista group. I suggest that you post in the XP or ME TOO group
