Hello, I have windows xp pro and i need to reformat my hard drive and reload
all my software, this is a last ditch effort to get itunes to work. I am
afraid that I will not be able to re-validate because i don't think i wrote
down any of my passwords. Is this going to be a problem? Should I try to
call customer support before I do this?
thanks in advance.

Windows validation will not be a problem as long as it is on the same
hardware. If it is, they provide a number that you can call for a key.

Because iTunes won't work you're going to reformat your hard drive? Why?
That's like having the motor in your car rebuilt because the new air cleaner
you bought won't fit in the air cleaner box. Call somebody at iTunes.

Yeah, I know, I have been on the phone with Itunes on four occasions. They keep telling me to uninstall and reinstall Itunes. This will work temp., if I leave I tunes and come back to it, it will not open. So then I call again, and they say uninstall qtime, then repair the installation, if that does not work, uninstall itunes and redown load the installer, and reinstall itunes. I have done this many times to no avail. Then I tried to turn off all unessential services, that did not work, that is why I thought I might reformat and reload. Maybe something is wrong with my Windows XP Pro .......I am not happy about it, but I am at a loss.

That was clever!

In response to your post:
Validation won't be a problem. The only problem you will have is
restoring all of your drivers. *A WARNING: MAKE SURE YOU HAVE ALL OF
YOUR DRIVERS!*
There has been several occasions on which a manufacturer has
discontinued a product, and no longer supplies the drivers. Any person
that does not back up drivers is daft!
