Reformated hard drive does not respond.

I re-formated my hard drive(C) and made it the master. I made my D drive the
slave. Because I used XP upgrade I had to put Win. 98 on the C drive. After
re-formating C drive, it will not boot up from the C drive. It just stays on
the page that read's: Hit escape to go to setup and delete to not do memory
test. My thinking is since the drives for the keypad is in windows and
windows is not opening that might be my problem? My disc drive also is not
responing.

Do not pre-install Windows 98, it will format the drive in FAT32.
Do a clean install with the XP Upgrade disk and then, when asked, take the XP disk out an put the
Win98 disk in so that the installation program can read the required code off the 98 disk. It will
then instruct you to take the 98 disk out and return the XP disk in to finish the installation.

Of course your system won't boot from the C drive, you formatted it and
now there is nothing on it to boot from. Formatting wipes a drive clean.

Put your Windows XP disc in your cd rom and boot from it and install
Windows XP to the C drive and your problem will be solved.

While you're at that screen that says Hit escape to go to setup
do that and make sure in setup that your computer is set to boot from
the CD rom drive first. That way you can boot from the Win XP install CD.

Hope this helps.
