ReFormat Partition on a Reinstall of XP Pro

B

bulletx

I want to reformat my C:\ drive and reinstall a fresh copy
of XP Pro. The current C:\ drive had XP Pro working well
until I had to reinstall XP Pro over it (Repair did not
take care of the issue and was not using Restore.). Of
course, all my applications remained on the drive but were
no longer recognized by the reinstalled OS, so now I want
to start fresh.

The C:\ drive is the primary active partition on the hard
drive along with 4 logical drives on the extended
partition. How can I format the C:\ drive prior to
reinstalling XP Pro? I have noted the "delete partition"
choice on installing XP Pro before but did not initially
try it as was concerned it would change the drive
lettering order or something. (I want to keep my logical
drives the same and their files intact.)

I have the XP Pro full install CD, the boot disks for
Windows 98 SE as well as the 98SE full install CD.

Thanks for the help.

When you start the Install select New>Advanced. This will allow you
to select the partition you want to
install XP on. Then from there it will let you format just that
partition.
