I am trying to reformat my hard-drive however when i
follow the procedure that is found on microsoft web
page. i cannot get past the deleting the partition due
to start-up components or such that are on the
partition. Also i am not getting any systems sounds from
my speakers and when i play a cd it is very scratchy and
distant in only one speaker the other has no sound. I
tried using headphones to both my cd players and still no
sound. Need advice, thanks Kelly

You cannot format a hard drive you are 'in'.

You must boot with the XP CD and follow the instructions that appear on the
screen.
