I am trying to get the 'software' to fix the stuck pio
problem with my system. This article indicates to submit
the info to microsoft to get the hotfix. Unfortunately I
am unsure as to the method of receiving this hotfix. The
only option I see is to pay $35 which is out of the
question. The other option is online support but when I
punch in the product key, I am told to go to the oem
manufacturer.

Who do I need to contact to get this fix the article
refers to for XP?????

If you call and ask for the fix specifically (i.e. I need the fix mentionded
in kb article 817472), they'll give it to you for free.
If they need to help you find the fix, they'll charge you.
