Reduced windows in the task bar

I am having a problem on my computer with the reduced windows and general
showing of open windows in the task bar. there are no buttons (or whatever
you want to call them) showing whats open and whats not. This is only a
problem in 2 of the 3 profiles on the computer which i find rather strange.
Please help!!!! I've searched all over my computer settings to try and get
them back but cant find anything!!!!
HELP!!!!
