I'm using Windows Vista Home Basic and i accidentally deleted the recycle bin
from my desktop (which originally did not show up as a shortcut), so I tried
to replace it by finding the recycle bin elsewhere on the computer (in a list
of folders) and click/dragged it to the desktop. It is now showing on the
desktop as a shortcut to the recycle bin, and the logo doesn't change when it
is empty/full, as it used to before I deleted it. How can i bring the
original recycle bin logo back to my desktop?

Right click a blank spot on the desktop and choose Personalize.
In the left column click "Change desktop icons"
Put in a check mark for Recycle Bin.

Right-click on the Desktop, Personalize
on the Left, click on Change Desktop icons
check Recycle Bin
