once before on 98, but lost the instructions.

there are invisiable files that wont delete and I get an error message
evertime I try to clear the recycle bin

make you close internet explorer and windows explorer.

* open a command prompt (start | run | cmd.exe | ok)
* change to the root directory (cd \)
* type: rmdir /q /s recycler.
* close the command prompt

From an earlier post:

Recycle Bin - Repair or Replace

Replace/Repair the Recycle Bin This is a REG file. Save the file to your
hard disk and double click it. Answer yes to the import prompt. Right click
on the Desktop and select Refresh. REG files can be viewed in Notepad by
right clicking the file and selecting Edit

Hi Joel,

Create a dummy notepad document and save it. Delete the file and let it go
to recycle bin.
Now, empty recycle-bin.

If this does not help, you may want to delete the Recycled folder or follow
Kelly Theriot's repair solution. (Deleting the info2 file). That should
definitely solve it. You may need to restart Windows.
