Corrupt Recycle Bin

I get a message that the recycle bin is corrupt when I try to remove
shortcuts etc, and am asked whether I want to empty the recycle bin now,
even though I have set it so that files are not sent to the recycle bin. I
am using XPPro sp2 and have two HDDs, with them both set the same way. Has
anyone a fix please? TIA

If you say Yes to emptying it, the Recycle Bin should then reset itself and
be ok after that.

Delete the recycle bin, reboot.
