Recycle Bin: Cannot Find It

I see no Recycle Bin icon on my desktop. When I run a search from the
Start menu on a search key of 'recycle,' no folders return. When I open
a drive directory from the My Computer option in the Start menu, no
Recycle Bin folder appears in the directory list. When Norton scans my
drives, it spends a long time scanning files in the Recycle Bin, which
is what I would expect since I have deleted many hundreds of files
without emptying the Recycle Bin. When I try to select the Recycle Bin
as a folder for Norton to scan, Norton does not show me Recycle Bin as
a folder choice.

How can I make a Recycle Bin icon appear on my desktop? How can I make
the Search and My Computer functions from the Start Button detect the
Recycle Bin I think I must have on each of my drives and partitions?

The recycle folder and its files are hidden/protected. That's probably why a
search doesn't find it and Norton can't see it.

Thanks for that MS URL. I attempted the workaround section of the
instructions, but I was disappointed that no recycle bin appeared in
the resulting folder list. However, after I had concluded that I was
going to have been stymied in that attempt and I backed out of that
workaround, I noticed that a new icon titled "Norton Protected Recycle
Bin" had unexpectedly appeared on my desktop. I executed the offering
to empty recycle bin which it displayed to me and I hope that had the
conventional outcome.
