Recycle Bin - another type of problem?

I feel for Kia about her problem with having a file that
can't be deleted from the bin. I have almost the exact
opposite problem, but I reference that one as maybe they
are related?

MY problem is that I delete folders to the recycle bin. I
counted, I deleted like 5 or 6 of them today. But when I
go to empty the bin, it only showed that I deleted 3 of
those. Traces of the other folders I THOUGHT I deleted to
the bin are gone, but they aren't in the bin either.
What's the story here? Shouldn't there be a 1-1
correspondence between what you delete to the bin and the
contents of said bin afterward? Can anyone tell me what's
going on and if these files are floating around taking up
disk space or if they are just not reported? This is not
the first time its happened.

I have XP home edition on a new gateway box. I'm not
sure I like XP home. If anyone wants to make a
recommendation about a more reliable and faster OS than
this, I'm VERY open to it!

Many thanks, I'm a newbie here, so have patience please!

How big were the files. If they are to big for the recycle bin they get
deleted and not sent to the recycle bin. Also if they are on a network
drive, they do not goto the recycle bin, they get deleted.
Faster and more reliable than windows..... and as easy to use as
windows........ there is none. XP is the fastest, most stable, and easiest
to use , imho. Linux is a viable alternative, but it is not for newbie's.
It's for hardcore users.
Possibly a Mac might suit you, but good luck trying to find programs for it.
Stick with xp and learn how to use it to your advantage.
