Recurring appointment from Outlook Today

When I double click a recurring appointment in
the "Outlook Today" display, Outlook always open the
series and does not ask whether you want this occurrence
or the series so any changes are effected for the whole
series. Is this a bug or am I missing something? It's just
a pain because I end up updating the whole series when I
just wanted to deal with the single appointment.

That's the way Outlook Today works. You'll need to edit single occurrences
from the Calendar folder -- use the Day/Week/Month view.
