Recreating Unread Mail folder in Outlook 2003

Is there a way to recreate the Unread Mail folder in Outlook 2003, if it's
been deleted previously?

I attempted to recreate the folder by hand, which works, but it's
functionality (i.e. all unread messages showing up in it) wasn't restored.

Start Outlook with the /resetnavpane switch.

Outlook.exe /resetnavpane from the command line.
