Wwhere is the "time to display recovery options" timer location? after a
system recovery the timer set in "my computer" properties no longer changes
the real time.

%systemroot%\bootstat.dat

The Automatic Recovery screen is not displayed if the Bootstat.dat file is
compressed

When Windows XP Professional starts, it reads status information from the
file systemroot\Bootstat.dat. If Windows XP detects that the last startup
attempt was unsuccessful, it automatically displays the message and startup
options that are shown in this picture...

I'm asking about the the first screen that asks press F2 to enter setup or
F10 to system recovery, the time set in computer properties does not change
the time it is displayed. which is 32 sec. Thanks

Only that it is the 2nd box and time set under MY
COMPUTER/properties/advanced/startup and recovery/settings/time to display
recovery options. Thought that maybe windows might be involved.
THANKS! Will try to get recovery disk from HP.

I believe that the F10 Recovery deal uses a hidden partition on the hard
drive, no CD is needed for that.
