I am trying to use the windows recovery console for the home edition. It asks for an administration password, is there any way to turn that off for the windows xp home edition. I can get into any user accounts with administrative privledges but im not sure how to turn off the administrative password that is asked for when using the recovery console.

You could try this, no guarantee
Start | Run | Regedit
Navigate to
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\WindowsNT\
CurrentVersion\Setup\RecoveryConsole
Set the DWORD SecurityLevel value to 1
Exit Registry and Reboot

or visit the below link

Console in Windows XP

Note you can save the registry key first by:
On the File menu, click Export.
In the File name box, type SaveKey, and then click Save.
Or create a system restore point prior to editing.
Note: If the registry key is not there, you can simply create one by going edit
