Recovery Consol - F8 Key

I'm trying to restore my system which isn't booting up Windows XP. It's
locked into looking for a "user" who doesn't exist with the only optrion to
shut down.
I am trying to use "Recovery Console".
When I get to "set up Windows XP" and press enter the option to accept the
licence agreement requires the 'F8' KEY to be pressed.
F8 gets no reaction and I have to exit or go to "repair" which has been
fruitless so far.

Can anyone give me any advice?

Hi,

Are any of the function keys active? Is this a USB keyboard and does the
system support using one at this level? Some systems have an F-lock key that
must be pressed first.
