recovering lost documents

is there a cache or something where an old file I deleted
is being saved??? you always read about the cops finding
old files on harddrives that had been deleted by the
owners, can I do the same for a lost/deleted file?

It is possible using a utility like Norton, but there's no guarantee -- the
disk area that contained the file might have been over-written since.. It's
important that you stop using your computer IMMEDIATELY -- use someone
else's to download a utility, or buy Norton (or equivalent) and follow their
instructions. Any usage of your computer may overwrite where the file was.

Cops use programs like www.recovermyfiles.com. Give it a try. It has a
preview in the demo version that will allow you to see the contents of
deleted files so you will be able to tell if it can find them.
