Recovering in Cached Exchange Mode

We are using cached mode across a WAN, and the users have large mailboxes.
When a computer fails and we need to create the cached mode profile on
another computer, the syncronisation process takes forever. I was hoping that
I could use the Mailbox Merge tool to extract data from mailboxes on the
Microsoft Exchange Server into PST files (this can be scripted). These could
then be burnt to a CDR and sent to the WAN users. My question is, can we
create a cached mode profile and stop the initial syncronisation process,
while we import the PST file? Then turn on the cached mode and have it sync
only the changes since the last PST file was created? I have read the Seed
article from Microsoft http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=872930 but this is
to painful. Thanks for your help.

No, that is not possible. You'll end up creating duplicates (and doubling
the time to synch ;-))

Hello,

Thank you for posting.

First, I¡¯d like to say thanks to Robert. I agree with him.

This question appears to be more consulting in nature. Please understand
that our newsgroups are provided for specific break/fix issues.

Although this newsgroup provides break/fix resolution, we are happy to
provide general information and suggestions on it here and you may receive
suggestions from other partners on this topic both here and in the public

Exmerge tool only can export mails into a PST file. After you copy the PST
file to the remote machine and launch Outlook with the cache mode, a new
OST file will still be created and then synchronize with Exchange server.
The PST file is not helpful. So I think the method mentioned in 872930 is
quite good. It is not very complex and you can have a try.

If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to let me know.

Sincerely,
