Recovering deleted "All Pictures" folder

Opps! In a hasty move of moving folders from an old
laptop to a new laptop, I deleted my entire folder
containing 3 years of family photos.

The confounding part is that the recovery should be easy -
I should simply go to the recycle bin and pull out the
folder...right? Oddly enough, the folder is NOT in the
recycle bin. I am absolutly certain that I did not empty
the recycle in the 30 seconds between the deleting of the
file and my attempt to recover the folder.

Is there a separate and little known fate for deleted
large image folders? Does anyone have any suggestions of
other ways I might recover these images?

I eagerly await any help.

Have you searched ALL files and folders on the computer for the name of one
of those images? It is possible you simply moved them elsewhere?

I have had files do this "disappearing act" when I was using my daughter's
computer in the past (years ago, her setup was very different from mine and
a newer OS) and when I dragged the files as I was used to they MOVED instead
of COPIED. I did find them, because somehow they all went on the desktop
:-( However, they could have been moved just as easily into some other
folder hidden somewhere and thus I learned to ALWAYS search the computer
before panicking if something moved (i.e. someone else using my computer did
it).

That said - I cannot imagine either why anyone would not have some sort of
backup of irreplaceable files of any kind - I have always had ZIP drives in
my machines allowing constant backups of files I would not want to lose.
Hope you find them!
