Recovering a partition errored by Part'Magic merge?

N

news

Well, I tried to merge my 3rd partition into my 2nd with Partition
Magic 8.
It appeared to get through the data migration, and was working on
resizing, when it errored out.
(Didn't record the error.)
It rebooted, but locks up on the splash screen. (WinXP Pro is on the
1st partition, however.)
I can Safe Mode, and the 3rd partition is still there, but is
inaccessible and says needs to format.
The folder it was all supposed to go into is on the 2nd partition, but
is also inaccessible. Drive sizes never changed.

I'm prepared to called the partition lost and format it, but, is there
some way I can recover it?
Nothing in Partition Magic gives any indication of any recovery
possibilities

Thanks for any advice!

Using the Windows GUI PQMagic ? - if so, from the General
menu is a "Undo - Last Changes" option.

Ouch, Partition Magic's Merge to me has always been more risk
than benefit. It's better to resize and then absorb the unallocated to
the adjacent partition.
Anyway, there are Partition Recovery tools available that can/may
help. Unfortunately, most all of them are fee based. I'd probably
do a Google for "Partition Recovery". There may be new tools
available to help you out and not require a purchase.

Contact the Author of the program you bought and ask for the fix.

Hi,

I suppose you trying Partition recovery utility to restore lost
partition. that utility helped me before to bring dead partitions back
to life. The tool is realy reliable. It can be foun on a data tools
collection bootable CD, Active@ boot Disk. It also has other really
powerful soft for data, to restore, erase and backup it. Give it a try,
you won't regret it.
