I'm always messing around with application and Windows XP to find out how
things work or because I download some many applications, install and
uninstall, I'm always in need of at least a non-destructive recovery if not a
Destructive Recovery. Problem is that my hp Recovery Drive only installs
what my system came with and as pertains to Windows XP Home Edition, that's
with only SP-1.

Once I do a Recovery, I have to update Windows XP all the way to SP-2, and
then update SP-2. I lose many applications, even though they many still be
in Programs, they're not listed in Add & Remove, so I have to delete them
from Programs, and reinstall them. I wanted Norton Ghost because someone
told me that would resolve this problem and once I ran Norton Ghost, all I'd
have to do upon a Recovery is run Ghost and all my Drives and Application
would be there. Is that true?

Also, can you give me some directions if that's true on how to proceed.
I've just Defraged my system, cleaned it, and ran Win Registry Pro to defrag
the registry. Should I run Ghost now? Is there anything I ought to know or
any program that might do this better? Is there a better way to save my
current sytem settings, drives, and application so upon another Recovery I
can save myself some work, time, and lost information?

A drive imaging program is the best - Norton Ghost, Acronis True Image,
Terabyte Unlimited's Image for Windows - to name three. Acronis True
Image seems to be a favorite of many but Norton Ghost works well too.

Whichever drive imaging program you choose to use, I heartedly suggest that
you read the help file that comes with it, "before" you run into problems.
