Uninstalling programs after a non-destructive recovery

I recently performed a non-destructive recovery on my laptop and there
are some programs from before the recovery that I would like to
uninstall. Unfortunately, the programs don't show up in the add/
remove programs window even though they are still on the machine and
capable of being run.

It keeps giving me an error message stating that access is denied to
those files when I try to remove the program files by deleting them
directly out of the Program Files folder.

Is there any way I can remove them without having to do a full
destructive recovery?

I can't reinstall one of the programs because the disks for it are at
my parents (I'm 6 hrs away at college) and when I attempted to follow
the alternative directions you provided there was no security tab
under the properties of the folder. I am logged on to the account
with administrative access, am I missing a step some where?

I forgot to mention that one of the things that is causing problems is
an addon for the game World of Warcraft. I have tried the reinstall
then uninstall for it but it won't let me install the add on again.
It keeps listing the folder it is in as read-only under properties so
I uncheck that and apply the new setting but it still won't let me
remove the file.

Thanks. It is telling me to clear the checkbox associated with Use
Simple File Sharing, but there are no entries that says Use Simple
File Sharing in the location they are describing. I'm sorry if this
is just me being an idiot, but I really appreciate your help.

I just notice that it says you cant do that in XP Home Edition. I'm
running Home Edition. I feel like an idiot for not mentioning that
earlier.
