"Recovered From Serious Error" On Every Reboot

Steven L.

After having installed some new apps and uninstalled other apps, my XP
SP1 system is generating the error dialog "This system has recovered
from a serious error" every time I boot or reboot. There's no
indication of any problem when I shut down or reboot--no freeze ups or
error messages. But as soon as the machine finishes booting I get that
same damn error dialog. After sending the error report to Microsoft I
get a webpage saying it doesn't know what the cause of the error is.
And the next time I reboot the same thing happens again.

Is there any way to figure out what's going on and get rid of that error
dialog?

Thank you! The workaround given there, to re-create the pagefile, seems
to have fixed the problem! Just one more question, if you don't mind:

The workaround suggests setting "System Managed Size" for the Paging
File Size for My Computer. I noticed that prior to this, it had been
set to some custom size (I forgot what size, sorry). Is it OK to just
leave it as System Managed Size?

Yes. System mangaed size is best.
