Hi !
I'm more confused now
What has "Page Fault" got to do with a "system has recovered from a serious
error"
Or am I missing something

Mike

The message "Your system has recovered from a serious error" is a
generic message to serve as a reminder that you did have a problem.

The data error report contains the details of the specific error that
caused the problem.

In your case the error is identified as "bccode:50 bcp1:e25d9c98
bcp2:00000000 bcp3:a2525e0b bcp4:00000001 0sver:5_1_2600
sp:0_0 product:256_1"

The bccode:50 is an abbreviated format for bugcheck code 0x50 which is
also known as STOP 0x00000050. This specific error code has been
given the name PAGE_FAULT_IN_NONPAGED_AREA

The information and links on Jim Eshelman's web page are an excellent
starting point for trying to identify the underlying cause of the
problem.

If you are unable to make any progress on this issue using that
informaiton then please post a response back here and we will proceed
to check into it further.

p.s. I note from the error message that your Windows XP is at the
original release or "service pack 0" level. For your own protection
you need to update this to Service Pack 2 a.s.a.p. unless there is
some extremely important reason why this cannot be done.

Windows XP Service Pack 2 complete download:

Order Windows XP Service Pack 2 on CD:
http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/downloads/updates/sp2/cdorder/en_us/default.mspx

Good luck

Installed Windows XP Service Pack 2 onto the spare machine and ran sfc
/scannow and re-booted.
Problem solved.
Reason for not doing this earlier is that I thought it was not nessasary as
the computer was not used often and not on internet etc.
Thanks for the help
