Recovered 6gb Pst file is showing zero size

Hi,

My 6GB PST File was deleted, but i was able to recover it successfully with
the help of some recovery softwares.

But the size of Pst file is Zero Kilo Bytes (0KB). Can any one help me with
this. As that pst file contains all my precious mails.

I am using MS Outlook2003 STD Edtn. and i got it from my office.


Kindly help me on this ASAP.

If your recovered PST file has a zero size, then you cannot call it
"successful".

If you don't have a backup from before the deletion, then your best bet
is to try another recovery software. I have used Recuva
(http://www.recuva.com/) more or less successful in the past, but the
more activity is going on on that disk, the less chance you have for a
successful retrieval.

Hi,

I had the same problem and am still looking for a solution - ScanPST
converted a 1GB file to zero! I did remove the hard drive and put it in an
enclosure to prevent data corruption.

I looked into specialist Outlook recovery programs, but was told that they
cannot recover data from a zero sized PST. However, I know the data should
still be there.

Any other suggestions?

Hi,

Thanks for the correction but i tried that and hell lot of other things. I
just don't get one thing - will MS ever make our life really easy? How can MS
can be so careless with *.pst files, they have to develop a something for
these kind of problems.

My every mail is lost from year 2006, can somebody help me on this? I am
really tired, fed up and irritated with this.

Please, help me, save me from this trauma!!!!

backup file box, enter a new name, or click Browse to look for the file
that you want to use"

If you have never made a data backup since 2006, I suspect you have
learned a valuable lesson. ScanPST will only recover what it can read.

I learned a pretty valuable lesson. But i already tried scanpst tool and
didn't gace me the expected results.

The backup file that was created could potentially be examined by a data
recovery firm. But if the "6 gb" was just the size of the space reserved
and the contents are gibberish, then there is not much chance of recovery.

No, people frequently manage to corrupt their PST files despite all the
warnings about things they shouldn't do. Some have prepared for the
inevitable and make backups, others suffer the consequences. What do you
mean exact solution details? If you destroy the only copy of something,
there is no solution.
