Hello,

using Outlook 2003 with Windows XP, I wish to know if
there is a size limit or any retention limit concerning
the Recover Deleted Items in the Tools menu.

Many thanks for your help.

That is set by your Exchange admin. Contact him/her for the answer.

The deleted items can have a retention policy set but this is done by the
Administrator. You would need to speak with s/he to see what is currently
set. If right click on the Deleted folder select properties - Autoarchive
tab towards the bottom there is a button regarding retention policies that
may give you some information as well.

Actually, if you tweak the registry you can get the option to recover deleted
items. On Microsoft's knowledgebase there is an article...I have a copy of
the article, but not the number....(however this article was previously
published under Q246153 - if that helps). Anyway, here's how you do it:
Although, I wouldn't recommend messing around in the registry if you don't
know what you're doing!!! Especially without a backup....

Locate and click the following key in the registry:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Exchange\Client\Options

On the Edit menu, click Add Value, and then add the following registry value:
Value name: DumpsterAlwaysOn
Data type: DWORD
Value data: 1

Exit the registry and when you get back into Outlook, there will be an
option under tools to recover deleted items. If you want recover items from
different folders, highlight the folder (such as sent items) and then click
