Recording to CD

Like others, I get error message that I don't Have a burner. I do. CD & DVD. Please, in plain English, for us dummies....how exactly is it done?
And also, after I get it onto CD, can I import it to DVD creator program? Thanks
 
On the burner, maybe it's just a setting. See the second of the 'Dated but
Timeless Posts' on the CD Burning > Intro page of my website.
