recording from cassettes

I'm trying to record from audio cassettes onto CD's. I
have followed the instructions for using the Y-cable and
the input jack. The instructions say to open the record
function of the program but I can get anything to
record. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I have a
HP pavilion mx703 computer with Windows XP.

Want program are you using? anyway, make sure that you
have the "Line-In" volume turned up. it's in your control
control.
