Recorded webinar - edited project - too long to save as movie file

Hi there - Total novice at video editing, just to set the record straight. I
recently held a GoToWebinar, it was over an hour long....recorded the webinar
as a wmv file. Editied it in Windows Movie Maker 2.1.4026....got it to where
I want it...still just over an hour....I want to be able to put the end
result out on our website, but when I go to save as movie file it says it
will take like 4000+ minutes to do..actually I never wait long enough to see
how long it is actually going to take cause clearly I can't have it take that
long.
Is my file just too large to be practical....am I missing something...how do
I accomplish getting this beast into a wmv file that I can post on our site?
Thanks in advance for any advice or pointers!!!!

check my website's Import Movie Source Files > Video > WMV page...

screen captured recordings often need conversion before they'll work in
Movie Maker.

PapaJohn - Thanks for the response. I will check out your website on the
topic, however GoToWebinar provided it as a wmv file to begin with....but
maybe I am missing something. Will go check out your website and then come
back with more questions I'm sure. :)

In your original message you mentioned
that you edited the .wmv file in Movie Maker.
What_exactly_ did your editing consist of?

The webinar recording came from GoToWebinar as a wmv file -- file size
181,093 kb. I open that up in Windows Movie Maker, edited it (removing
unwanted dialog...) and as a Movie Maker project MSWMM file it is 672 kb and
an hour long. Note - the webinar was mostly power point slides, a few video
clips and the speakers narration. So onto saving it as a movie file which is
when the duration just keeps on counting up... Hope you can follow that.

Everything you report sounds normal with the
exception that the original .wmv file is exhibiting
behavior that indicates it may be corrupted.

Might be worth a try to import the original into
the following free converter and choose .wmv
as the output format.

Format Factory

Thanks for the suggestion. I tried it but I am having the same issue with
using the FormatFactory......the conversion never moves off of 0%
completion......I just don't understand why this is happening. Worse case
scenario I guess I use the unedited copy to post on our website......will be
pretty 'freshman-ish"....but at this point I feel like I'm out of options....

A wmv file can be compressed with any of many different codecs... here's a
copy of a paragraph from my website...

Files made with a screen capture codec such as the Windows Media 9 MSS2
codec used by software such as the Live Meeting Recorder and the Windows
Media 9 Encoder need conversion to other video files by an app such as the
Windows Media 9 Encoder. They'll go into Movie Maker and preview, but the
project won't save as a movie.

Ok, I gave that I try...converted the file and just Imported it into Windows
Movie Maker. This time I have 167 clips...first time I had maybe 16....I
will try a test Save as Movie file to see if I have success...if so will then
edit accordingly....I will let you know how I make out. Thanks for your
guidance!!!! By the way, I noticed on your website that you do some
editing/converting etc projects....do you still? Since I am a department of
1, I could see utilizing you in the future on a few projects.
