Reconnecting mapped drives

J

JC

Peer-to-peer network drives that have been mapped on PCs
running Windows XP do not reconnect when the XP PCs are
rebooted.

Why and how can this be fixed?

Thanks,
JC

I am writing a tip for http://www.ChicagoTech.net and that will be published
soon. I would appreciate it if you can post back with the result.

Automatic Reconnection Issue
By default, the Automatic Reconnection feature is turned on in Windows XP
Service Pack 1 (SP1). If it doesn't work, 1) make sure you have installed
SP1; 2) re-set the fDisableAutoReconnect. To do this
1.. Start Registry Editor, and then locate the following registry key:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\Windows NT\Terminal
Services

2.. Add a new DWORD value that is named fDisableAutoReconnect to this
registry key.
3.. Set the fDisableAutoReconnect value data to either 1 or 0. A value of
1 means that Automatic Reconnection is turned off. A value of 0 means that
Automatic Reconnection is turned on.

Thank you Robert,
Editing the registry is something I am not yet
comfortable doing but I will study your suggestion and if
I try it I will let you know the results.

Thanks,
JC

"By default, the Automatic Reconnection feature is turned
on in Windows XP Service Pack 1 (SP1)".
