"Recently used applications" gone..

Every time I restart the computer my list of "recently
used applications" is cleared. It's pretty annoying as the
feature is brilliant. Any suggestions on what the problem
might be?

Hi Mattias,

This is due to the presence of the registry key called
"ClearRecentDocsOnExit". As the name implies, it erases all the most recent
used documents, applications on exit.

To resolve this,
Open Registry Editor (Regedit.exe)
Goto the following keys one by one:

[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\
Explorer]
&
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\
Explorer]

Set the value of the key "ClearRecentDocsOnExit" to 0
