I recently formatted my computer's C: drive, and now there is no volume
options at all and no sound at all plays. I tried usuing the troublshooter
but that gave no help at all. Anyone know how to get volume options active
again? Thanks

if you have reloaded XP you may need to re-install the specific drivers for
your sound card.

Re-install all the drivers from your motherboard CD which probably includes both onboard sound and video not to mention other drivers the system would need for a probably functioning computer.

ok, thanks you, now I just have to hope I know where my cd's are, I do however have a Dell resource CD that says it has 'device drivers' on it. Will this also work? I'm using an HP brand.

Please don't do that. It's very unlikely that a Dell driver CD will work on
an HP machine. The hardware will be too different and if you manage to get
the drivers on, serious problems will likely ensue.

Determine the exact model of your PC, then go to the HP site and download
the drivers that are listed for it.
