Recent update crashed the CPU

I downloaded a recent update for Win XP Home and after
restarting the CPU, I received these error messages.

1) Logon User Interface DLL msgina.dll failed to load.
2) The procedure entry point Assoc Is Dangerous could not
be located in the dynamic link library SHLWAPI.dll

I couldn't start the CPU in normal or safe mode after that.

HELP!!!!!

To assure a clean install, your anti-virus application should be disabled
and all other running processes closed before installing anything, including
Windows Updates.
