I have encountered a sudden change in computer performance. Before I could
run my online computer games with no problems, but now I am running into a
lot of lag. I have defragmented, scanned for spyware and viruses (Ad-Aware,
Spybot SD, AVG AntiVirus), deleted useless files, downloaded new drivers,
etc. Nothing has helped. Does anyone know something else I can try?

Lag (in the way you are presenting it in an online game) is releated to
network performance mainly...
Have you checked with your internet service provider to ensure your
connection is clean and no new noise has been inrtroduced into their system
at your end?

I've run maybe 10 speed tests and the results range from 99 kbps to 455
kbps. I'm now talking to an ISP rep and hopefully they can give me some info.

That's a pretty broad range - maybe even more than can be accounted for via
different test sites/time/traffic...

What speed do you pay for? Is this Cable, Satellite, DSL, other?

Alltel DSL (256k?), I contacted them online and after an hour long
conversation (mostly me talking to myself) the rep concluded that I needed to
call the help desk and set up an appointment. Joy. Could there really be some
error on their end causing me all this trouble?
