Recent programs and start menu

Recently opened programs do not display on the bottom left of the start menu.
The space is blank. Any suggestions?

Right click on the taskbar (or start menu when it is opened), and The Taskbar
and start menu properties box will open.
Goto the "Start Menu" tab, and click on Start Menu "Customize"
(If it is classic start menu, recent programs will not be shown).
In the customize button>general tab>see than number of programs on start
menu is set to something besides 0 (default is 6 i believe). If it is 0,
change it to however many you want. It could be that the list was cleared
too, but they should start to show up the first time you run a program, so
this is probably not the case?

Hope this helps?
