Recent Documents

Hey everyone,

For certain types of files (mp3, wav, etc), opening them through Windows
Explorer (simply by double-clicking on them) doesn't register them in the
list of recent documents. I've read about edit flags with which you can
prevent specific extensions from showing up in the list, but the concerned
extensions don't have any. So that's not the problem.

Any idea how I could force them to appear in the list when I open them? I
use foobar2000 to open them, but I'm not sure that has anything to do with it.

Ashelia, you can try going to C:\Documents and Settings\Your user name
Folder. Open and then go to Tools>Folder Options>View>Click on Show hidden
files and folders and
Uncheck Hide protected Operating system files. Click Apply Ok. When
thats completed you should see your recent documents folder with all exts.

Thanks for your answer,

This doesn't solve the problem. For example, when I open a jpg file from
Windows Explorer, a shortcut to it is created in the recent documents list,
which I can use to access the file again quicker. When I open an mp3 file
though, a shortcut to it doesn't appear in that same list; and that's what I
need.

Ashelia, I tried rt clicking on the MP3 file and selecting Open With.
Select the program you want such as foobar or WinMedia Player and click Ok.
It seems that you will have to
do that with each MP3 file you Play. That should get you into the Recent
Doc Folder.

My Start Menu recent documents are all documents or graphics files.
No recent WAV files appear there. (Maybe because they're not visual?

They do appear in the recent file list in Windows Media Player, whether
opened with Explorer, WMP, or drag 'n' drop.
