To access your Hotmail account with Windows Mail, you have to access the
hotmail POP3 server (mail is downloaded to your computer).

With the newer Windows Live Mail, you can access the Hotmail account via
DeltaSync (mail is kept on the server).

Yeah that's a popular one! The mail server names that yahoo and msm and most of the "webmail" won't work as a mail server for an mail application. Gmail, I've heard will allow it, though. Good luck.

Have you tried to set up Hotmail in WLM instead of WM. Hotmail (web dav ) is being
discontinued as I am posting this
