Receiving Time-out & SharePoint Services Errors

I have recently been receiving two errors when attempting to use FrontPage
(FrontPage 2003).

At first, I was receiving the following error:
"An error occurred accessing your Window SharePoint Sevices site files.
Authors - if authoring against a Web server, please contact the Webmaster for
this server's Web site. WebMaster - please see the server's application
event log for more details."

This error is popping up only when trying to save a current .htm file with a
new name and when trying to save a brand new page. Our site files are stored
on a shared network drive. Also, I have made a copy of the entire site
folder onto my desktop and tried the same task and still receive the same
error...therefore I don't believe it is a server error...

The second error I have been receiveing is:
"The server "" timed out. The current request did not complete successfully."

I receive this error when simply trying to open the website from the local
shared drive they are stored on. We have multiple websites we use FrontPage
for and the interesting is all the other website files are stored on the same
shared drive, however I am able to get into all the other website folders.

Both of these errors are hindering me from updateing our website with
imperative additions of new products. Any assistance would be greatly
appreciated!

I ran the FP clean tool yesterday, and I am still receiving the same errors.
What should the next step be?

I was able to find a fix that worked:

To the best of my investigation, the problem is that at some point, your
computer stopped working while you were working on a web site. There is
corruption in the _vti_pvt
folder. Here is what I did.

"I created a new directory, and copied all of the information from the old
directory.
Then, I deleted the _vti_pvt folder. When I opened the new folder in front
page, it asked if I wanted to ad the frontpage information to the folder; I
answered yes.
You will notice that you can access the folder through front page, but that
the navigation and other front page specifics are missing. I copied the file
"structure" found in the _vti_pvt folder from the old folder to the new one,
while front page was closed, and was able to recover my navigation. I just
rebuilt the rest as needed. "

Please forgive me I don't have a high level knowledge of FP by any
means...Why do you say the method I used was extreme? How would I have gone
about recalculating hyperlinks?
