Receiving some messages

I am only receiving some of my e-mail messages. My husband has the same
problem on his computer. This started happening a couple of weeks ago. No
harware or software changes that we know of. We know people are sending us
messages and sometimes we receive them but most times we do not. Any
suggestions?

Go to your provider's webmail (using Internet Explorer) and check your mail
there. Are the missing messages there, perhaps in a Spam folder?

If you are checking that same mail account on another computer or device (such
as a smartphone), then at least one of them is removing emails from the server
after downloading, thereby making those emails unavailable to the other devices.

In Windows Mail, go to Tools, Accounts, select your mail account, Properties,
Advanced, select "Leave a copy of messages on server."
You will have to figure out how to do the equivalent on your other devices.

Hi Gary,

I "chatted" with Comcast first (our webmail provider). There was nothing on
their server or in the Spam folder. I don't understand how they could just
vanish...

Thank you for your help!

Windows Mail can only download what is in your Comcast online inbox.
If there is nothing there, nothing will be downloaded.
If the senders of the missing messages are not receiving non-delivery notices,
then Comcast is silently dropping those messages as suspected spam.
