Everyday I keep receiving the same E-mail everyday from my friend. He has
only sent it one time 2 weeks ago. Can anyone help me stop getting them
without removing his E-mail address? Thanks,Herb

Without knowing anything about how you connect to your email it's hard
to deduce much. Most likely it's a case of his email server resending
the item, or your email server redownloading it continually.

I had this happen a few years ago where someone else's email had a virus and
was resending copies of something I sent to her (with my name on it as
sender) to all the others on the mailing list. I was only able to discover
this when I looked at the e-mail headers and could see that someone else was
the actual sender. You might look at the headers and see if is really from
your friend.

Make sure to use an email client rather than a web interface. Even OE
has the option to remove downloaded messages from the mail server. BTW,
this has nothing to do with "Windows XP".

Is there anyway that I can prevent from receiving any more?

If the email is actually getting re-sent, there is nothing you can do to
prevent it (short of, as you said, blocking the sender as spam).

This happened to me a few years ago and it turned out that our office
email server for some reason wasn't flushing my message from its
"outbox" queue after sending it. Every time the server was re-started
(which the IT staff did once a day for some reason) it sent the message
again. I don't know what the actual cause was, but the IT folks were
able to manually flush the queue, which stopped the message from being
resent.

If your friend is sending this message from his/her work email, he/she
should tell his/her IT department about it. Otherwise, he/she should
contact his/her ISP (which, unfortunately, will likely be less
responsive than an office IT staff).

What you have to establish is -- is the email being resent
all the time OR is it failing to be removed from your ISP
when you download it. If it is just not being removed for
some reason, usually there is a way to read mail on your
isp -- you can delete it there and it should be gone. If it
is a case of it is being re-sent (new one each time), you
will have to find out what is sending it and kill it there.
