receiving phone calls while online

Does XP come with the ability to receive a phone call
while online? All I want to be able to do is put my
connection on hold when a call comes in and resume the
connection when I hang up the phone.

You need to go outside XP to accomplish this. Here is an earlier post:

You can do one of two things...
1. Get Call Forwarding and forward calls to your cell phone
while you're online.

If you don't have a cell phone or don't want to use it that
way -

2. Get (Fixed) Call Forwarding and CallWave (the internet
answering machine).

CallWave is a small window that pops up to the top of your
screen when there is an incoming call - it has caller ID, so
you can see the phone number calling.

Depending on your phone comapany - broadband will allow simultaneous use of
the net and incoming phone calls. Just as if you had two phone lines.

It's not broadband that allows this. It only makes sense that those
using CABLE as their broadband can use their phone at the same time
(duh). People get confused with DSL, thinking it ties up their phone
line. DSL does allow regular phone use while the DSL broadband
connection is still active.
