Cannot seem to receive any messages through my bellsouth server when using
windows mail. The mail is there on the bellsouth server when I log into
webmail. I have been able to send mail, however not sure if it is being
received on the other end. Here is the error message:

Account: 'mail.bellsouth.net', Server: 'mail.bellsouth.net', Protocol:
POP3, Port: 110, Secure(SSL): No, Error Number: 0x800CCC19

Help, please...I'm not computer illiterate, just don't know what to do here!

I will check my settings again when I get home today, but I am using
TrendMicro for my antivirus protection. I have only had my new computer with
Vista since December 23, and it was receiving mail fine up until 3-4 days
ago. As for the leading sentence of my error message, I can't recall exactly
what it said, so I will check on that as well. Thanks for your help so far!

One of the recent versions of the Trend antivirus software causes assorted
problems in Windows Mail, although seldom immediately, and the only way
to stop it from causing such problems is to uninstall it, not just disable
it.
Sorry, no information available on which version.

Sorry...it's been a while since I checked on this...I rechecked all of my
settings from the web address you listed below and everything seems to be
correct on my end. However, I did update my TrendMicro Virus Protection
recently. I will uninstall it and see if this corrects the problem. Thank
you for your help.

Okay, I've completely uninstalled my AntiVirus from Trend Micro, restarted my
computer, and I am still getting the same error message. This is the first
part of the message: "Your POP server has not responded in 60 seconds.
Would you like to wait another 60 seconds for the server to respond?"
Account: mail.bellsouth.net
Server: mail.bellsouth.net

The error message is this:
Account: 'mail.bellsouth.net', Server: 'mail.bellsouth.net', Protocol: POP3,
Port: 110, Secure(SSL): No, Error Number: 0x800CCC19

Anymore suggestions? Ideas? Should I contact TrendMicro?

You sometimes also need to remove your email account under Windows
Mail, then create it again.

One problem I've had since AT&T took Bellsouth over is that AT&T will
not support outside e-mail servers. You have to use an AT&T e-mail
account, and I thought Bellsouth was a bunch of Jerks...

Right now I can only recieve e-mails. AT&T won't allow me to send any,
I get a error if I try.
As far as I know, that blockage only applies to email servers that use
port 25. Few internet providers apply such a blockage to any other
port.

Assuming you're still in the bellsouth.net part of AT&T, check here:

You mean that AT&T won't let you use a port 25 SMTP server
belonging to a different provider. That is standard policy for
all modern ISPs. Why don't you use the AT&T SMTP server?
Your recipients won't notice the difference.
